How About Makeup with Eyelash Extensions?
The beauty of our NJ eyelash extensions is that they make you feel dressed up without wearing any makeup at all. However, many of our clients ask if they can wear makeup with their eyelash extensions and the answer is yes, of course! You just need to be mindful of the products you’re using in order to help your lashes stay on for as long as possible.
- Use oil-free products Avoid pulling or tugging your lashesIt’s not makeup that’s the problem, it’s the oil within each product. Oil-based products around your eye area can break down the glue and cause your lashes to fall out prematurely. We recommend using oil-free skincare around your eye area.
Whether you’re applying or removing your makeup, be gentle around the eye area. You want to avoid tugging or pulling on your lashes as this can weaken the bond and cause them to fall out earlier.
2. Mascara do’s and don’ts
Your lashes will last the longest if you avoid using mascara at all. Once you have your full, lush lashes, you won’t need to wear mascara as they naturally make your eyes pop. However, if you do want to wear mascara, apply it to your bottom lashes first – you may find that’s all you need. If you still want more, we recommend using an oil-free mascara.
3. Avoid Waterproof Makeup
The issue with waterproof makeup is that it’s impossible to remove without using an oil-based product. And we want to avoid oil-based products at all costs. Eyelash extensions are sensitive to oil as it can break down the lash adhesive and cause your extensions to fall out prematurely.
4. Ditch the Curler
Eyelash extensions have a natural curl already so you don’t need to use a lash curler. In fact, lash curlers can cause unnecessary tugging on your extensions – which we definitely don’t want! Embrace a simple makeup routine and ditch the curler.
5. Apply products Gently
6. Groom Lashes Daily
Keep your lashes clean and looking fresh by combing them with a lash wand,' every day. This ensures they aren’t crisscrossed and keeps them looking full and luscious.
